It is the hormone responsible for one’s “fight or flight” response.

It does this by destroying the enzyme 11ßHSD-1, which isn’t all that important to know except that it can be found in one’s testicles and serves as a precursor to testosterone. When the levels of cortisol are reduced, testosterone can freely leave the testicles and move into the bloodstream.

Catechol-O-methyl transferase or COMT breaks down serotonin and dopamine levels within one’s body. have shown that Rhodiola Rosea can lower COMT levels by as much as 60% which in turn increases one’s serotonin and dopamine levels by 30%. “In other words, it makes it 30% easier for you to put up the bat signal and tell your body it’s time to get hard,” says Jaynes.
“By reducing the amount of COMT, thereby reducing your body’s ability to get rid of dopamine, you end up with more dopamine in your system — which makes getting an erection easier.”
More Norepinephrine
Some people in the medical field are beginning to suspect that a leading cause of depression may not be a low serotonin level, but rather, a low norepinephrine level. Low levels of norepinephrine can make one feel sluggish making it difficult to get aroused. Rhodiola Rosea has been shown to help alleviate these symptoms.
